    Hi,
I park in an underground car park. Recently I noticed some water dripping through ceiling on to bonnet of my car and leaving a kind of powdery looking water mark. Thought it would just wash off with a bit of soap and water, but no, it's tricky as hell. Dont want to scrub it. Read that vinegar might work if it's lime, but don't want to damage paint work. (I assume vinegar is ok) any tips?
    Cheers

Try a rubbing compound like T-Cut etc.

    Should bring the Paint back..

had the exact same problem and was advised to get a bottle of Santrax brick cleaner and put some on a cloth.

Worked perfect and no damage to paintwork.

    Hi mcgarrett,
Thanks for tip. I looked up santrax to see what it was and found this post on askaboutmonry.ie
    "
You might well be talking about Santrax cleaner. It is good at removing stains like cement etc. from tiles but it is extremely strong smelling and corrosive. It left a permanent mark on our steel sink and I would not recommend its use anywhere near children or asthmatics. It will take a few days for the smell to go out of the house also. Lenehans in Capel St. stock it. Not sure about B&Q or Woodies."
Corrosive? And "permanent mark on steel sink"
    Make me nervous.....

Hi fg, thanks I am based in munster, blanch is a bit of a trip.

First of all get your hands on a "clay bar" and some polish and wax! If unsure what a clay bar is, read on, I'll explain how to get more info! ;)

    1. Wash the car
    2. Detar the car See point 4, it will become clear why its worth doing!
    3. Wash the car
    4. Use the claybar with its lubricant on the affected area...its adviceable to do the whole car, the results will be worth it
    5. Wash the car
    6. If stain remains after above, polish the area
    7. Wax the car to help prevent / make it easier to fix next time!
    8. Park your car away from the leak if possible! ;)

If you do all the above, the problem should be resolved and you'll have a great looking car - something to be proud of and wont cost you an arm and a leg! ;)

You can order all the stuff you need from Detailer. They are a very helpful crowd, if you contact them (details are on the site), they will talk you through what you need to do and advice on what products you will need!

Also, Detailing World would be the forum you would ideally post your question on - plenty of people on there to advice also!

If you are uncomfortable doing the work, find a detailer (not a run of the mill valet) in your local area and they will be able to fix the problem!

    Hope this helps! ;)

In the past I've just sprayed WD40 on it and it seems to do the job.

    HI,

I had exactly the same thing on one of my cars, it was lime from dripping water in an underground carpark. I had this a lot.

I used Cillit Bang and immediately rinsed it off with water. It works a treat gone instantly and I then just polish over the area with some good wax.

No damage to the paint work. Have done tis about 10-12 times over the past 2-3 years always on the same spot.
