10 each way will cost 20 euro. its 10 win and 10 place. the place is usually top 5 and its a quarter the odds. so if hunter wins you will win 250 for the win and about 62.50 for the place. if he finishes in top 5 but does not win you only get the place money. you will also get your 10 euro back on top of the winnings. i would hold off til wednesday to back anyone because some bookies will offer specials including paying up to 7 places. victor chander do a special on all their golf tournaments that if your player gets a hole in one they pay you out as a winner, even if he fails to make the cut. also check out oddschecker on wednesday and you will see who is offering the best odds and specials. at the moment you can get 40/1 with bwin.com and 33/1 with powers with each way 6 places. good luck, i will be on bubba because he hits right to left and this will suit augusta, and few quid on phil after the way he played this weekend

And if your EW bet finishes in a tie for 2,3,4,5 etc you only get a portion of the winning EW odds, if your bet finishes on his own in 2,3,4,5 etc you get the EW odds, if that makes sense, and joint place finishes happens a lot in golf

not necessarily true, if there was a four way tie for 2nd you would still get your full place winnings back, same if there was 3 way tie for third, and 2 way tie for fourth.

Basically, the bookies pay out on the first 5, if there is a tie for the 5th spot, whether it would be 4 for 4th place or three for 5th place, a fraction of your stake will win and a fraction of it will lose.

Example, two people tie for 5th.... the bookies pay out the place element in full on 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Of the two guys who finish tied 5th, half of the place stake will win and half will lose. On your €10 each way at 25/1, €5 will win, €5 will lose, so it would return €36.25.

I've probably totally confused you now, sorry

I am a bit confused yeah! Does a fiver each way bet cost a tenner? Is it double for all the eachway bets? So say I put Gmac, Watson and Mahan a fiver each way, that'd cost 30 quid? Sorry about the questions just a bit confusing for me!

Yes a fiver each way costs 10 euro.
As someone already said a fiver each way basically means 2 bets.
    Bet 1 = 5 euro win
    Bet 2 = 5 euro place

Being "placed" depends on the bookie but for the masters will probably mean a top 6 finish.

The odds for being placed are a fraction of the win odds you see quoted in the bookies. This will normally be a quarter or a fifth depending on the bookie. eg if win odds are 20/1 then place odds will be 5/1 or 4/1.

On Betfair Hunter Mahan is 32 win (31/1) and 8.2 top 5 (7.2/1). My guess is if you are asking about each way you do not have a Betfair account.
