I've gotten a few hits the last couple of times that have broken the skin and left marks on my face between my ears and the edge of my mask.
I work as a sales rep so I can't have my face marked, especially as work will be asking questions.

Has anyone used a full head neoprene mask like a balaclava type and if so how do you find it and do you need to wear a grid or something underneath.

    Something like this.

Iv used these quite abit and they can get very hot.what eye prtection do you plan to use with it?That can have small holes to leave air out but they dont really work and it can get quite wet from your breath.I dont use them anymore and now use a light balaclava.

If you're going to go the neoprene route, you'd need some seriously ventilated eye protection eg mesh or fan goggles.

Have you considered something like the humble balaclava?

So if I get a balaclava, and I take a hit from say 20 ft ill get impact but no skin break?

What's the best type then, is it the thin skinned cotton type.

I wear a mask and a wool cap that is pulled as low as I can but I still have that triangle that attracts bbs.

Hmmm it wont break skin but it might mark you.I use a mixed materials one.Its a little thicker then a t-shirt and its slightly larger then my face so you have some loose material to take the hit but its breathable so you wont be wearing a wet rag on your face for the summer.

there are the full face fencing type masks, with perhaps, a balaclava underneath?

I'm afraid there isnt a perfect solution, if you cant get marks, try a sport that doesnt involve firing things at eachother... it perhaps sounds a little blunt, but sometimes, somewhere, you will get hit, and it will mark you. Its an unfortunate reality of the game. You could play in a motorcycle helmet?

There are some good mesh masks around cover lower-face & ears don't have any links at the moment but they would be better than neoprene as you have any skin contact even indirectly.

Here's a link to the kind if thing I'm talking about, If looks in work are part of your job (no offence intended) you need to go for this kind of thing, you'd cover the cost in one sale

You could try something like this but you would still need glasses inside in case the bb shatter on the mask

I've seen those in MIA and ill try one on I think. I'd be interested if I could wear my prescription glasses underneath.

I find a Shemagh works well in combo with a boonie. Keeps the head relativly well protected and the loer face too. Easy to use, light, comfy and absorb BB impact quite well.
If not i have seen a fair few Full mesh masks that cover the entire face in mesh, like a fencing mask.
Im sure someone has a link to one somewhere but that would be the next best to avoid that god dam fogging you get with goggles

    Hope that was some help

I use a neck gaiter - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-CAMO-FLEECE-NECK-Tube-GAITER-gator-Mens-HAT-Hats-/310286957694?pt=Men_s_Accessories_UK&hash=item483e8b3c7e#ht_1543wt_907 -- I pull it up when going into fire.

Neoprene masks are worthless. They don't provide much protection and give you the peado sweats.

although they cool they r far from cool make u sweat like a pig dont use them at all now, in fact i think they steam up ur glasses even quicker

Interesting discussion. I moved to France some time ago. Sites here prohibit intentional head shots and you must apologise if you hit someone unintentionally in the head/face area. Most people wear no face/teeth protection at all. I've yet to be hit on the face here in France. By contrast, I wore full face protection in Ireland, including using a Neoprene mask. I managed to get hit on the bridge of the nose and gaps between mask and clothes / mask and goggles.

Perhaps prohibition of head shots should be considered?

    Neophrene masks are useless.

Hot and cause glasses to fog beyond belief and they dont take the sting out of a shot either.

Mine sits dormant in the shed after one game out.

There are enough high quality full face masks out there now that are comfy and useful enough for airsoft.

I got a savage one of airsoft that isnt neck covering, its light material but provides frontal facial cover but doesnt patrude around the chin to stop you iron sighting your rifle.

I'll try find the name of it and put some pics here but its the best full face I ever used.

And I hate full face, but can live with this one, never a spec of fog either.
