    Hi

An odd question , but just wondering would anyone know is Lisbon Airport reachable on foot (just walking as a pedestrian) from Lisbon city (the area around Picaos / Saldanha / Parque Metro Stations).

What I'm trying to find out is if the road out to the airport has like a pavement or sidewalk for people walking, or is it like a motorway that people can't walk alongside.

(Supposed to be coming back from Lisbon on one of the days there is a public transport strike there so planning to walk the distance (10km 6 miles) if its possible).

    Thanks for any advice, Mike

No! But transport isn't a problem.

I'm pretty sure it is, actually -- I took the bus to the city centre there last year when on an unplanned stopover and after a quick check on Google Streetview to refresh my memory, there seems to be footpaths even around the airport itself. But it is so close to the city centre that I would recommend just jumping in a taxi if all the public transport is on strike -- you might look into whether the airport bus isn't running even if the rest is striking. I think it's run by a different company than the city buses.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just get to the bus stop good and early, and leave enough time so that if no buses turn up I can still walk it or get a taxi. Luckily the flights not till 1 in the afternoon. cheers & thanks.

Its about 7km to Rossio Square in the heart of down town. The local bus is cheap and regular, so you don't have to use airport bus or taxi. Just follow the locals and they all use the local bus! Can't remember the bus number, but it was obvious when you come out of the airport building and cross the walkway.
