Probably a good idea to drop down as he seemed feather fisted at Light Welter, maybe he will have a bit more power now.

Fighting a guy that's 6-62? I thought that was a misprint at first until I went to boxrec. Think he needs to find a new job.

Jamie is just learning his trade and although these guys have terrible records they know all the tricks of the trade so he can learn from them without being in too much danger most fighters go through the same schooling, there will be a time to step up but right now he is still in the learning process

some of these journeymen can be a bit dangerous too the result should never be in doubt but a few dirty tricks could lead to cuts etc. there was a little italian guy who fought over here a couple of times his name escapes me but a dirty fighter as mentioned he actually wasnt overly bad over here but watching some of his fights definately is...

Its dangerous to talk about records without knowing anything about the fighters. Some of the UK journeymen are poor others are pretty darn good. Razak is one of the good ones, as is Johnny Greaves and Kristian Laight, amongst others.

Definitely more of a test than the Latvian guys that only have wins against drunks they drag in of the street into the gym and chalk it up as a "sanctioned bout"

Have seen Kristian and Jonny in action but not this Razak guy. No doubt Kavanagh will get the W but as boxing-ireland.com pointed out there are quite a lot of journey men who present fighters with all sorts of issues. Some pile on the pressure, others cover up and are masters at going 4 rounds without getting caught flush, dropped or ko'd. Prospects shouldnt have too many of these fights but if they are struggling with a certain aspect of their game and appropriate journeyman is a good call.

Was going up to watch the lad spar today and found out that the Khans have closed the gym to media now. Seems the dummy has been spat out.

Heard the Kahns dont like people lookin in on training. Id say theyd only do the minimum amount with ringside etc. for promo.

I stayed on to see Kavanagh fight. He won every round as expected and boxed well. Even though he was on 2 fights after the main event he had a lot of irish, english and spanish supporters which was good to see. His old coach phil sutcliffe was among the supporters who stayed on.

Was chattin to another boxing boardsie after the fight who seen kav in the states last year and said he has come on a lot.

The guy he fought was a bum. I hope they don't build up his career on bums, or he'll be in for a rude awakening when he fights a good boxer. They need to give him some tests - not world class boxers or anything, but at least guys with winning records.

lets be honest, every boxer starts out with bums or journeymen, and build it up from there. hes only 6 fights into his career so id say another couple of bums are on the cards for his next few fights until he finds his feet.

Razak aint a bum. The clowns they ship over from Latvia are bums, Razak is a decent journeyman.

Mate, who would you prefer to see him in against after 5 fights.

If he was still fighting Razak after 10 fights then you would have a point.

Yeah, he needs to be in with journeymen who will ask questions of him and make it hard to execute a game plan at this stage. Its not all about records and Razak didnt make it easy for him. Its pretty much a given that a prospect will make it to 15-0 anyway, all ya can do is hope he learns something that will see him through his next 15 fights, and for a lad that doesnt have too much power that was a great learning fight.
