Hi guys i hope you can help me with this,
I have just secured a job in London starting at the beginning of June. I recently got a form out from the SW asking questions to ensure that i still qualify for JSB, asking questions re what jobs i have applied for.
Now i have no problem filling this out as i am applying for jobs daily and have proof of same. My question is though do i tell them that i have gotten a job? Will they stop my JSB immediately if i do? I cannot afford to support myself until my job is due to start if they stop my benefit. I do wish to stress that i will tell them prior to starting my job-i am not going to commit fraud.
    I would appreciate any help.

I have also secured a job in the UK and started this week(Only got late notice of acceptance). I tried to ring the Limerick SW office at least 10 times to sign off Jobseekers allowance but they wont pick up the phone.

If i was in your shoes i wouldnt tell them until the week before you go. I am nearly sure you will be cutoff if you tell them. Anyway i was on the dole for thirteen months and never once was i questioned about evidence in applying for jobs. In fact i never had to do anything only collect my money weekly.

You still need to be looking for work to receive JSB even though you have a guaranteed job in June. From your post it appears that you are still applying for jobs so you meet the criteria looking for work. Keep a record of the jobs applied for and documentary evidence e.g. online email applications and replies in case you need to prove you efforts to seek employment. Good luck with the job in London.

IMO June is a long way off and if you toldthem now and they cut you off then job falls through you would have to start applying again. I suppose if you were offered same job here would you stay? Also you are still looking so I would wait until you are certain.

Why on earth would Social Welfare cut somebody off before they start work?

OP, congrats on your new job. June is 2 months away, you would be expected to still look for full-time work for April and May. As long as you are doing that, you're entitled to your payment.

It doesn't matter whether you tell your SW office now or in June, it will make no difference. Your payment will not stop until you start work. If fact, if you give them some notice they could make arrangements for your final payment to be paid by cheque rather than having it sent to the post office on Wednesday and you starting work in London on Monday.
