Mail Lamber, Remington has it written on it that steel is ok.

Who is the Lamber Importer in Ireland

Someplace on the barrel ( you may have to pull the barrel) there should be a stamp/ mark which indicates steel proof:

They also sell screw in chokes for steel. Whether the barrel is able to withstand the generally higher pressure manufactures load their steel cartridges is something the importer can help you with.
    Ardee is the importer.

The flats will have the gauge of the gun followed by 76 if it is proofed for 3 inch cartridges e.g. 12-76 if it is a 12g. For 2 3/4 inch it will be 12-70.

The Steel Shot Proof Mark was agreed in the early nineties but was not generally brought into use until a few years ago - AyA started to use it in 2007.

My First Shotgun was a Baikal in the 90's.
I have owned a Lumar and 2 remingtons since.

Only teh Remington had it written on it.

I bought the Lumar in 2003.
The first Remington I bought was an old 11-87 and AFAIK it was made in 1987. It had Steel shoot de-marked on the tubes.

The 105CTi I have now also clearly says steel shoot.

I assume in 5-10 years Lead shot will be a thing of the past.
I do hope that some new composite may come online that is more dense than lead but completely biodegradable.

I've a Benelli and it's not written on the gun but it's written on the chokes...which ones are suitable for steel shot.
