Three iPhone question

    Hello all.

I've read all the stickies, but I'm a bit stumped. I'm thinking of buying an iPhone tied to Three Ireland (unwanted upgrade). Is there any problem in having my 02 number set up on this? Or should I skip it and take the hit for an unlocked one?

    Thanks in advance.

    Freddie.

If you buy a three branded iPhone and it's locked to three it wont work with an O2 sim. If it's an unlocked device then your o2 sim will work in it. Do you want to port (move) your o2 number to three? If so then the new three sim with your old number will work in the three branded iphone

Thanks for that. That's precisely what I want to do. So there s no unlocking it once it's tied to Three?

Well the original customer might be able to get it unlocked from three (it costs 25 euro). Or there are other methods of unlocking which circumvent network polices. Jailbreaking for example.

Thanks for that.:) Three are offering the best PAYG tariff at the minute so I might go for it.

It probably won't be unlockable via JB at the moment. Plus if it's a payg from 3, you have to put in €150(?) credit on it first, then pay €25 on top......

An unlocked one is always best in my view. How much is he/she hitting you for? If it's close to the unlocked price, bite the bullet.

There isn't an app. Go into settings>phone>3 Ireland services>planet 3 and save it as a bookmark.

425 Euro. Had to cancel it though. Went into the local Three store and they put every obstacle in my way. I was planning to get the 3pay microsim and do the 500mb Dada add-on at 5 euro per month. For 25 Euro a month it's a good deal.

    Pity.:(

    Hi,
I have a 3GS on 3 when I try to open the link as suggested it says safari can't open this page. Any chance you could post a link please?

    Thanks

I don't know how I'm supposed to post a link for the phone

The above link won't open if you're on WiFi, only 3G, maybe thats the problem.

You're probably on wifi, turn it off. That link only works on 3G.
