I stayed in this place last year,i got the bus up from Waterford and they have a shuttle bus running from the airport,it was real handy.

Last time I had a red eye flight from Dublin I stayed in the D4 hotels in Ballsbridge and took the Aircoach to the Airport, at the time the D4 hotel was super cheap at €30/night as it was after a change of ownership, and with the Luas and Dart Connection nearby it worked cheaply for me, although I doubt if it would work now!

the closest hotel to dublin airport is the clarion, if you dont have much luggage its easy to walk from there to the terminals

outside the radisson (also on the grounds of the airport) the other "airport" hotels are located at least a mile away from the airport, most of these hotels have shuttles anyway, some are 24hr, some start at 4am

bewleys dublin airport is a nice hotel with a quick shuttle

A red eye flight is really a flight that leaves late in the evening and flies overnight. Not an early morning flight.

stay in the radisson. 5 mins walk to terminal, but they also have a shuttle bus.

I always thought the term was just used for a flight that left you wrecked tired with Red eyes. A really early one always does this to me due insufficient sleep the night before! I learn something new all the time!

My flight is at 6am in the morning, ill probably have to be there at 3 or 4am to check in, I was thinking would the hotel be a waste of money, I was considering getting get a late bus or train up to dublin and just sit in the airport for a few hours

Best idea tbh, forking out 50euro for a hotel room for a few hours seems a bit pointless.

Go up to Dublin as late as possible (have a few drinks in a bar?) then get the aircoach (which runs every hour after 1am until 4 or 5AM) and just chill in the airport.

are there any bars or cafes open at that time in the actual airport? where would be the best place to get a few quite pints at that time and where would I get the air coach from, thanks for your help

Just be careful is you get too lashed the airline staff will probably deny you boarding! And with Dublin drink prices a €50 hotel room could still end up cheaper depending on your beverage! Dragging a suitcase or pull along into a bar would be a bit awkward in the city also!

A few years a few of us went on a massive spree on our last day in New York and stayed up all night drinking and then got to the airport after minimal sleep and got on the plane, we were all talking... "jeez mikey was bombed last night and ossified etc". The BA steward pulled my mate if he used the "B" word again he'd remove the whole lot of us from the plane. I apologised and explained it was used as a slang word for being hilariously drunk and we wouldn't use it again, the two lads fell asleep and didn't wake up for the rest of the flight until Heathrow, He told us he would be refusing to serve us alcohol for the flight also encase we became a danger to other passengers. I was just tired with a headache and those 8 hours were bloody long!

The stops in the CC would be :

Dawson Street – Pink Shirt Shop
    Suffolk Street – McCullough Pigott
Westmoreland Street – Boyle Sports Shop
O’Connell Street – opposite Gresham Hotel

Theres a few 24hrs places in the airport before you go through security, like starbucks/mcdonalds. I dont think the bars are open that early though:(

Depending on the day of the week (Usualy Monday->Wed pubs/bars would close at 11:30/12) you could pick any of the bars in the CC and just grab an aircoach then.

Does the Aircoach go from bus Aurus,if not whats the closest place to that where I can get it from

I think this staying local to the airport is a waste of money.
I get 6.30am flights and I don't bother staying local, you're getting up so early anyhow you may as well not go to the effort of a strange room/God knows how much sleep and pay for it!
Often rise at 2AM or 3AM and drive up, doesn't have that much of an effect either, an hour or so kip later in the day and I'm grand.

I usually stay in the Metro Hotel, great food and really comfy beds! There is a shuttle bus to and from airport, just tell them what time you need it, definitely recommend!

When travelling with kids, getting them up at the crack of dawn (or before it), rushing them out of the house, parking in the back end of the long term car park, waiting for the bus, getting the bus, etc . . . just doesn't work. By the time it's 0900 they're shattered and they *still* have a long day ahead of them.

In these situations we have stayed at Bewleys (this year) and Holiday Inn Express (a few years back) and both times it worked out well. The start isn't as early, the breakfast is made by someone else, someone else does the dishes and the bus drops you off at the terminal. It saves a lot of time and hassle. Admittedly it costs money, but in the sales you can get very good value - €50-€70 for the night.

If I was travelling with Mrs Z or by myself I wouldn't use the hotel, but with the kids and an early start it's a definite advantage.

Where abouts in d'country are you coming from ? Are you anywhere near any of the 24 hour-ish bus routes, like Wexford, Belfast or Galway ? If so it might make sense to get a lift to Galway/Wexford/Belfast/other place and get a late night bus right straight to the airport. From what I know, most of them have timings to get people there for the first flights, so arriving 0400-0500.
