My father is nearing retirement age and I am in my early twenties and want to find out about Agricultural courses. I rarely do any farmwork and know very little about farming, I grew up off farm and my father only inherited the same farm quite recently at the death of his own very elderly mother.

I never did the leaving cert and went to college and worked odd jobs during the boom, now there is nothing here for me and want to do some college rather than Emigrate.

Emigration or a farm making about €40k a year for someone who hasn't a clue about farming ?

Go work on a farm for a year or so, what area would you be in? There's plenty of lads that'd take you on even 3or4 days a week if you're willing to work. If it's for you do it, if not don't.
    From there you can..
    -Go to an ag college
-go to do ag in wit
    -do ag in ucd
Don't know what entry requirements would be, try ring each college and ask for info on the requirements/ booklet on courses, i know there are great grants for mature students. Doing Animal and Crop production in Ucd myself.

most farmers that have suffering the long education of a farming life aren't making €40k a year, are you intending on growing weed or something

Revenue > Income I'm afraid, the only weeds I know of are called Ragworth!
