Road Trip covering some of Spain

    Hi guys,

I have an idea to do a bit of a road trip in spain later in the year.

I plan to travel from Barcelona to Murcia (near Alicante) and back up to Madrid.

I have planned to cover this over about 10 days, visiting various spots in between. I have heard however that one is not advised to drive into Madrid, as it can be quite overwhelming.

Can anyone offer any advice on driving in Spain, especially within the cities.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have driven in Spain on a number of occasions. They have an excellent highway system consisting of autovias, which are dual carriageways without tolls. Autopistas are tolled motorways. I would strongly advise you to avoid all major Spanish cities as the traffic is very fast. The smaller towns and villages are much more interesting and more typical of Spain and you will not have problems with fast moving traffic or parking.
