    Hey

Planning on getting married in august 2012. In the very early stages of planning and finding it quite overwhelming! The venue for the reception is really important to us so wanted to get some advice and suggestions/recommendations re: this.

Looking for a venue within an hours drive from north county Dublin. Would love to have the reception in a country house or manor house if possible:rolleyes: Would appreciate any suggestions!

We are planning on having a max of 120 guests and want to limit the budget to 15,000euro..

In fairness, Borderfox, Ballmagarvey wouldn't come under the definition "affordable"! ;)

€125 a head I was told when I enquired. By all accounts a lovely venue, however.

    Ballymagarvey House, Meath

Just thought I would throw it in, exceptional venue and way ahead of a lot of the others around :) Last Wedding I worked at there was €110 per head

Hamlet Court has great staff but no grounds and the food is a but meh
Ardboyne is the same as above
Knightsbrook is about as soul less as a hotel can get, so so food and if you like your grounds with greens and flags then you in seventh heaven

I havent worked at the other two yet, with the exception of Trim Castle Hotel the others are set up best for a large 200+ wedding and I would guess a smaller wedding would be lost in their function room or only have half the room which ruins a lot of the look.

The Original Post was Affordable Wedding Venues for 120 guests Budget €15000

based on €125 per guest €15,000 Budget has just been blown on the Venue.

based on €110 per guest €13200 not much change left out €15000 to pay for other items.

    Hotels I mentioned have menus €40 - €75

So based on on this they would have a price from €4800 - €9000

I am not knocking the other Hotels in your list

I have to recommend the Glenview also, although I had my wedding there so I might a bit biased ;) It might be a bit far out from you, I'm not sure. The motorway goes pretty much the whole way down.

We had 115 guests and it was just a nice number for the function room. Food was really lovely, it was exactly the same as what we were served at the tastings, which surprised me because a lot of friends/family members who have gotten married over the years told me not to expect the same quality/presentation on the actual day. Gardens are great for photos, and there's plenty of rooms for people to stay.

The wedding co-ordinator was lovely also, she knocked a good wodge of money off our final price, without us even having to ask. They have a package out at the moment that is €60 per head including wine and toast drink on a sunday - wednesday, and there's another one which is €75 per person friday and saturday.

And check the prices when you are doing your research - I was quoted €120 per head for BrookLodge ( it is lovely though)

Try Tulfarris and the k-club (they have some good deals in both at the moment) and they are both lovely too.

The Hetford arms in Kells is a nice little venue too. The food is very nice, and the staff are only amazing and will totally make sure you have a great day!

    Hi All,
Our wedding is on Oct 2012 and we are looking for a civil venue where Asian food is served(Halal food) also as there will be friends from Asian country also and we want to respect all. Please help us finding a suitable place !
    Many thanks.:)

I'm not aware of anywhere specialising in Halal food, it's a fairly minority requirement in Ireland.

Unless there are restrictions around Halal not being prepared in the same kitchen as non-halal though, I can't see why most venues couldn't cater for that request.

You could try the Citywest hotel, I was at a wedding afters there and I'm about 99% sure the food would have been halal (bride is my friend and she eats halal food). I don't know much about the specifics of the food prep etc so I hope I'm not wrong. They had a civil ceremony there too
