Which Oil Is More Suitable?

I'm heading up to Halfords now to buy oil for a Yaris 1.0 VVTi and am looking at getting Halfords 5W/30 Part Synthetic 5 litre. I happened to notice, however, that on their website they list a special offer on Castrol Magnatec 5W30 Oil 4 Litre that makes it the same price as Halfords own brand, although for one litre less.

Is it worth going for the branded oil and would there be much of a benefit with the Halfords oil being part synthetic?

Magnatec is semi syn too, if 4l is enough for a Yaris and it doesn't use a drop between changes I see no reason why the Halfords oil is worth considering at the same price for this oil change

I agree RJ. Following similar threads latley on the same subject I done some research and found that Castrol Edge is only middle of the road stuff. Mobil is the best..:)

It turns out the Castrol is Fully Synthetic, so I used similar thinking to you and went for that in the end. Since I used cheap ass oil before, I decided to give the car a treat this time.:)

The air filter was a bloody fortune though and I think I'm going to bring it back. 20 quid?!

Even better if it's fully syn. I'd never buy filter in Halfords, I only get the oil there when 'tis on special offer.

Go to the same factors a few times and they should give you trade price when they get to know your face, especially on a Saturday. Factors would be more keenly priced than Halfords too for filters and the like. Just don't tell them you buy your oil in Halfords :pac: If they ask are you fine for oil say you have a 20L drum of it at home ;)
