    Okay Guys,

Long story short bought a car last March 2010 privately with a fecked engine.

Instead of getting the tax looked after by the previous owner i.e He sending it away with my details, he instead signed and dated it and gave it to me along with the car.

Fair enough, fast forward 12months the car is driving but I cant find the tax book, I just pretty much forgot to send it away.

I have no contact details for the owner, I have rang Shannon and they sent out a form but I need previous owners details to apply for the book.

It was a stupid mistake to make, so does anyone know where I go from here ?

We are only talking sub €1500 car.

    Advice needed please.

Have a read of this thread, it might have some relevant information for you:

You most likely have to go to a main dealer for them to verify the car's chassis number, then get a signed declaration from a Commissioner for Oaths, solicitor etc.

Ask around, you must have a friend-of-a-friend ,cousin, neighbour etc. in the guards.
Explain your situation to them and they might just help you out with the previous owner's details.
