Accomodation/Restaurant recommendations Matagorda, Lanzarote...

Heading to Lanzarote soon and haven't booked a place to stay yet so was wondering if maybe anyone had any recommendations accomodation wise? Looking for a cheap apartment for 3 people, as close to the beach as possible and nearish to some restaurants and a supermarket if possible. I've been looking at places in Matagorda cause I read that it's a slightly quieter more chilled out place and relatively close to Puerto Del Carmen.

Anyone have any experiences or thoughts? Cheapish would be good but would like the place to be clean and nice too! I've been looking on trip advisor but it's so hard to know and I found the travel section on boards great for info. Thanks all

Hi I have stayed in Las Gaviotas and Club Valena.
    I would recommend both!
Both are very reasonable, clean, quiet (at night) and close to the beach and commercial centre in mata gorda.
Peurto del Carmen is about a 3km walk away, but a taxi is fairly cheap should you want to go there for a night out.

There are some really nice restaurants in the mata gorda commerical centre. I would highly recommend the Jazz Bistro. It's the best restaurant I've been to in a holiday resort. The food is excellent, service brilliant and prices keen. The smaller the restaurant, the cheaper the menu (usually).
The food is decent in most places. I like the mexican place too, but it was pricey (but not compared to Irish prices).

Thanks colsers22. Random question but you wouldn't happen to know if the shops/commercial centre sell all the usual beach stuff at cheaper prices than Ireland? Not sure whether it's worth waiting til we get over there to buy stuff instead of forking out for it here! Is Lanzarote in general cheaper than here?

Lanzarote is generally cheaper for stuff than here. There are a couple of small supermarkets in the Matagorda commercial center and you can pick up groceries, drinks and everything you'd need for the beach all much cheaper than here.

My one tip would be to get your sun lotions here. In my experience they tend to be at best the same price as home, however usually more expensive. Particularly in the smaller shops. At least if you go to the likes of Boots, they generally have 3 for 2 deals on a range of products!

With regard to accommodation avoid the Sol Lanzarote at Matagorda. Stayed there a few years ago and we very disappointed. It's a nice enough place but the staff were awful. Costa Sal, just behind it is lovely.

Thanks for replys guys. What's the craic with the weather in the evening around this time of year? Just trying to figure out if it's warm enough that you don't really need jumpers/jackets?
