Hi we have a Dell inspiron 1545 and the screen has gone after being dropped.
happened last year and dell repaired it cost €310.

Is it worth repairing and is it possible to a repair done cheaper than the above ?

PC is 2 years old but it came with a very good spec when we bought it.

    thanks?

You can DIY a little cheaper but not a whole lot cheaper: maybe in the region of €150-200. Being only 2 years old it's really up to you whether you think it's worth it. Makes you think twice about those Accidental Protection plans though - HP wanted $629 from me! Dell in contrast sounds much more reasonable: I have no idea where HP was getting it's figures from.

You can buy screens on ebay for around 100 quid. And doing it yourself really isn't that hard at all.

    Hi,

We do laptop screen repairs and offer a collect and return service in the Dublin area you can check out our laptop repairs page for more information or contact us directly for a quotation if you don't fancy tackling the repair yourself.

To answer the other part of your quesiton: Is it better to just get a new laptop? That really depends on the circumstances but I think if you get a better spec of machine to begin with (as I think you have) then if makes better financial and environmental sense to keep it for longer and make the best use of it. I have a nine year old desktop computer that is still working great because I bought a good spec when I was buying and looked after it. There is no reason why your laptop shouldn't last you another few years.
