    Hey there,

I am new to airsoft but something I have been looking to get into for a LONG time.

What I want to know is where can I find good information for newbies such as myself? What gun should I start off on. I don't want to break the bank so a good sidearm pistol shoudl do me.

What would be better, gas or battery? I hear gas is expensive and I know one guy that went through a few canisters in a week by just shooting a wall.

Anyway you can guess from my username that I am from Limerick so where would be the best place to buy here? Or online?

    Looking forward to your answers!

//EDIT woops just seen there was a newbie question thread. Sorry about that! asked in newbie questions now so delete please mods :)

    hey there.

there's a number of good shops, check the retailers section.

As for guns... for a rifle, stick to electric for a beginer, good ones to look at are the JG g36, and cyma AKs... very reliable good weapons.

With regards to the chap you heard of.... well, he must have shot that wall a few thousand times.... a gas canister (green gas) can last a gas pistol 5-6 skirmishes or more.... ive had them last me 10 or so games.

In terms of information for beginers, there are gun topics in technical, and my own airsoft tactics guide series in this sub forum, pertaining to kit, and in subsiquent chapters, tactics if that interests you. The whole forum here includes a great amount of information, have a read :)

Your nearest place would be Mid west Airsoft there in limerick city or airsoftguns.ie also in Limerick city, then probably head to L.A.C (Limerick Airsoft Camp) just outside the city There Forum Here on Boards Facebook, you might try starting off by renting an aeg (airsoft electric gun) at somewhere like L.A.C and seeing how you like airsofting

I suggest you skirmish a few times with rental guns to see if you really do like it. You will also have a chance to see and(if you ask nicely) handle other players rifles and pistols.

When you see some you like come back here and you will get lots of help as to the quaility and durablility of various brands.

For starting out you need good footwear( boots that come up over your ankles) and the best eye protections you can afford.

The only other requirement is a sense of fun and a detimination to enjoy the day.
Welcome to the addiction of Airsoft
