What TV programs are the best for covering international news?

Hi guys, feel free to move this if its in the wrong section.

I'm reasonably up to speed on Irish news, however I find myself lost at times when I'm reading about certain international news events.

Timewise I work fairly late hours so ideally I'm looking for a good program that I can record and watch when I do get in.

I do read the daily newspapers when I get time but my knowledge level means that it is mostly lost on me.

Is there any good starting point, any show that's reasonably objective and points out the key issues?

    Thanks

On RTE you well be hard pressed for proper news at all. But sky news at any time does the job.

Most people on here hate Fox News but I find Bill O' Reilly entertaining, weekdays at 1am.

Anderson Cooper 360 3am on CNN is good too.

RTE's Foreign News coverage is actually quite good for a station of its size with very good foreign correspondents including Tony Connolly in Europe and Richard Downes in the US.

Thats for the suggestions - I've never heard of Anderson Cooper.

These are great. But I'd say BBC is the best

Hard to look past the BBC.

I haven't seen it for a while but Channel 4's evening news bulletin (at 7 I think) has like half an hour of world news, including lots of interesting video reportage from all over the place. It's not separated from British home news though, which is something of a disadvantage.

ITN's Channel Four News is top class. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. As non-stop TV news channels go BBC World News can't be surpassed. BBC World Service radio, though, beats anything on TV.

I finally figured out how to tune BBC News 24 into my Sky Tv (it's really easy actually, I'm just stupid for not getting it done quicker.)

Have now watched two episodes of Anderson Cooper 360, it's certainly different to what I'm used, and very much informative.

The difficulty I have with american shows, is that I percive (rightly or wrongly) that some of them are very partisan, I appreciate that they are passionate but it's difficuly to only here one side of the story
