Looking to buy a Sigma 150-500m lens and best price I've found is from OneStopDigital. They are Hong Kong based and promise "All prices shown on our website include FREE DELIVERY* and are VAT/GST FREE** guaranteed, hence the prices you see here are all you need to pay. VAT-free. NO hidden charges. NO import charges to worry about"

That promise sounds great and they say they will refund any customs charges that might be imposed.

I normally buy from Simply Electronics, which I know is not everyone's cup of tea, but for this lens OnsStopDigital is about €70 cheaper.

Has anyone any experience of buying from OneStopDigital and would they be recommended?

Yep, I bought my 580ex II and a lens off them. Couldn't be happier.

They give you free Fedex delivery, it'll take two days max. You get a tracking code to follow it too which is cool.

    Highly recommended.

The are actually charging £10 for FedEx delivery now, its available from the drop down box when you are checking out.

I suggest you pay the extra. <SNIP>*

I bought my 580 ex flash from them and got a custom letter and i happened to buy a battery pack from the flash on eBay at the same time, so i sent the customs the paypal recept for the battery pack (which was €30) and had to pay €9 in total, better than €80 for the price of the flash.

What about Kea-Photo? They have that lens for €715 including shipping: Sigma 150-500mm

I've bought from them many times. The shipping is very fast (if you order on a Monday, you'll have it that same Friday) and I've never had to pay customs charges with them.

I actually picked 'regular' shipping instead of Fedex for my 580ex II a few weeks back, but they sent it to me via Fedex anyway! Strange, but I wasn't complaining. The delivery is worth a tenner anyway as you say.

Definitely a great price. Any idea what the customs charge would be if it was caught?

According to http://www.dutycalculator.com/, it could be as much as €200.

But, as I said. I've never had to pay import with Kea, even on large purchases. I'll be making a pretty large purchase with them again this week actually.

It's something to do with the courier they use (TNT), I don't know the ins and outs of it, but they seem to have a much more relaxed customs clearance process than other couriers.

Thanks Brian for pointing me in the direction of keaphoto, took the plunge and got it for €697. Took about 3 days to arrive and saved about €400 compared to Camera Centre in Liffey St, and about €150 on my previous favourite simplyelectronics

I used Onestop Digital for years and years and never really had any problems with them. Spent a lot of money with them and pretty much everything I own came from them. I went to order a 300 2.8 L IS last week from them along with a 2X teleconverter, sent them the money and received a reply saying they don't have it in stock and offered to refund the money. I asked them if they could source one and was told no and refunded the money.

I wasn't in a major rush for it or anything but the way they pretty much dismissed an order of that size after years of custom left me a bit sour.

I contacted Kea Photo who not only got me everything I wanted, but also sourced a drop-in polariser and are shipping the latest 2X MKIII for less than what Onestop wanted. Exceptional customer service and a pleasure to deal with, especially when you are spending large amounts of money.

Ordered a 60D from these about two weeks ago. It was out of stock, but I didn't mind waiting the extra few days considering the amount of money Iw as going to save :p

Anyway, they got restocked last Wednesday, at a higher price by€70 so that felt great :D Shipped Wednesday morning, arrived this morning without having to pay VAT.

Currently waiting for the battery to charge :o

cheers for the heads up on keaphoto....

I would have avoided them like the plague based on the appearance of the website, but my new 85 f/1.2 just arrived, no vat no customs three days to deliver and I saved a stack!!
