Personally, I'd get the 5.5 as they're .5 better which is enough for me!

However, I would get them knowing exactly what my shoe size in is Sidi's. If I were you, I'd either get the ones from Cyclesuperstore as you can try them on, or if being incredibly sneaky, get your size by trying them on in Cyclesuperstore, then buy online.

Note though that you have to buy the white ones.

This is reasonable. I might do that. I was going to go with 42, but was worried they might be too snug. The 5.5 is available in 42.5. When I know the right size I'll have the answer.

    And why is that? :)

    Many thanks for responding.

    it's the rules :)

The ebay ones are only available in black, so that kind of answers the question...

Is there a possibility of having to pay tax on the shoes from the States? Do your calculations include a postage charge?
As per previous posts, make sure you get the right size, Sidis are small fitting!

Have a pair of the 6.6's (crimbo present last yr from a v.generous GF) - they'd be pretty similar to the 5.5s. Can't tell you much about how they stack up against the 5.0's only to say that their fit is exactly the same as my old mtb Sidi's so I'd be fairly confident of buying online if you know what size fits having bought Sidi before .

Outside of that I'd have to go with Tiny - pop into a shop and try a pair on then either buy there (you could haggle on the 5.5 price) or employ the sneakyness - some manufacturers suit some peoples feet and not others (like everything else I guess) & it'd be a PITA to go and buy a pair of nice shoes online and have to send them back coz they weren't right.

At the end of the day however, there is fuck all difference between the two, so I'd go for whatever is most convenient (which would be CSS)

Genius 5 = stiff synthetic sole - will eventually soften somewhat after many miles - still very high end
Genius 5.5 = carbon sole - stiffer, and for a longer time, slightly lighter

I would definitely consider these. You can try them on in cycleways although they are €200 in there. Bought a pair myself recently, fit like a glove and very stiff sole. I love mine.

As said if its your first shoe make sure you try them on

Visited the CSS (well impressed by the shop!) and tried on the Pro 5 in size 42 - well snug, but perhaps too short: toes aren't comfortable at all. Tried size 43, and they wiggle about. :-(
I guess this leaves me no option but to try and go with the 5.5's in 42.5.
Thanks all for you good advice!
