hi my girlfriends period is three days late.and we had sex recently without a condom but she had taken her mercilon pill that day but i came inside her by accident.could she be pregnant ? shes on the pill only three months.and her leaflet said You can delay your period if you start with your next pack of MERCILON immediately after finishing
your current pack. and thats what my girlfriend done.so could she be pregnant or are her menstrual cycles just irregular because shes new to the pill? any info would be really great thanks,

Your post is a little confusing OP. What stage is she at on her strip now? Is she on her next strip having not taken a break from the last? Or has she reached the end of her current strip, i.e. on a seven day break?

I'm on mercilon myself having swapped from marviol about 6 months ago I definately noticed a small bit of disruption in my cycle.

It seems like your girlfriend is a little uncertain about the ins and outs of being on the pill. Maybe she should think about asknig her GP to explain it a little better?

Not trying to be patronising or snide but in fairness if ye're having sex there's always a chance she could be pregnant, that's how babies are made!
If she's taking her pill correctly then the risk of her being pregnant are small, but a slight risk non the less. So to answer your question yes she could be pregnant or she could simple be irregular due to taking the pill no one here can tell you for sure, The easiest and only way to find out is for her to take a pregnancy test.

It sounds like you are not ready for a baby so perhaps you should consider also using condoms as added protection? Especially if her getting pregnant is a big deal to you.

Also it sounds like your girlfriend is relatively new to taking the pill and how it works maybe you should use condoms at least until she has settles into a regular cycle and gotten used to 'how it works' for piece of mind if nothing else.

Good luck OP, Just get her to take a pregnancy test and you'll know one way or the other, if she's stressing out about possibly being pregnant this could also delay her period if she isn't pregnant.

Well I know everyone is different but it usually takes 3-4 days for my period to start after I have finished my strip. I really wouldn't worry to much just yet. You say she's been on it a few months so you should be fine. Saying that, when you decide to use no condoms you always run risk of prenancy (never mind other nasty stuff!), but the pill is very reliable in general. I'm not judging by the way, I just hope your in a stable enough relationship to be deciding to go without condoms.

You and your girlfriend should read up on the various things that can effect it's reliability. Such as missing pills, diarrhea, vomiting, antibiotics etc. If you're really worried just pop to a chemist and get a test.

The contraceptive pill can cause serious irregularities with the menstrual cycle.

No worries. Believe me I know what it feels like to be worried like this, but more often than not it's your body playing tricks on you. Remember her body is still adjusting to the pill so it's likely just this. Still do a test to be sure. I've been on the pill 10 years now (showing my age now!) but still every now and then my cycle decides to give me a little scare.. maybe it's just a way of my body keeping me on my toes!

The chance she is pregnant is pretty low, especially considering the 'period' you have in the gap of the pills is a cosmetic bleed, theres no egg involved or anything.
