I think its part of omnibus science. You cant select it from the CAO.

You want the general science course, you have to do general science for first year, you narrow it down more as you go then - you do pretty much all biology subjects for 2nd year, then more zoology orientated stuff in 3rd and 4th!

Thats the same as Galway and whatever the 3rd college is that does Zoology, as far as in know!

You choose Omnibus Science to do Zoology.

The point in 2010 were 435. Point for 2011 will probably be between 440 and 460.

You pick course code dn200 and the pick biomedical, biological sciences as a progression route and come years 3 and 4 you will specilize in zoology!

I really doubt they will go up that much. With a new course replacing the old one and all the old courses gone, those places will probably be added to the other course. So there's likely to be more spaces.

But like every year, anything said before the Monday about the CAO is wild speculation.

This years will be totally different I imagine with the new course. So everybody is just guessing really.

I would have thought that the course is continuing to gain wind and may rise again. I mean, it's only three years old, I'm not even sure if the first students in it have finished yet. Also, I'm pretty sure I read on qualifax that the number of places remained at 320. Maybe that was just the numbers for last year and they still have to be confirmed? I don't know, but if the numbers have stayed static, it is very likely points will increase due to the closure of many direct entry routes. Students are now required to funnel straight through the omnibus course.

Of course I couldn't give a definitive figure... Hell not even a range! But I'm 35 points clear and not feeling so confident. I suppose we'll find out Monday - For now though, nothing to do but work and drink so hopefully it will come quickly. I wish everyone good luck.

This is the first year of the new science course. It's not 3 years old.

Ah but they only changed 1 digit of the course code, and it's practically the exact same as last year's omnibus. I figured it to be more of a revamp than anything.

They pretty much changed everything didn't they? I mean there is no denominated entry into UCD Science anymore that's pretty big... That and they split the omnibus into biology chemistry and math/physics...

Anyway OP if you were to do science leading onto zoology you'd need to take all the biology modules, the mandatory math ones and probably at least three chem (They were core when I was first year anyway...) First year is pretty common to all students. There's a few zoology modules in second year, you'd supplement that with a second stream of subjects and then specialise completely in third year :)

I don't think there will be a huge jump in the points for Science this year seen as a lot of people apparently failed maths this year. It will probably be between 440 and 460 in my opinion.
