How to test modem in Windows 7?

Not sure if here or Nets & Comms would be best but I'm having a bit of a pain in configuring a particular site to electronically order from a wholesaler. I have a US Robotics 56k USB modem (that I've set up effortlessly on other sites) and I'm getting 'no dial tone' in our log file.

I want to test the modem against my own number and XP had Hyper Terminal which was handy. Does 7 have an equivalent? If not, are there any quick downloadable alternatives?

Real nuisance not having this working on site before I leave.

    Any suggestions appreciated.

Hyper Terminal was removed from Windows Vista and 7.

However, there should be plenty of alternatives out there for you to try. A good place to start might be this Help Desk Geek article, which should have something that you can use. :)
