Has anybody any experience of hiring virtual assistants from Asia?

Can you recommend a website through which to contact them?

What is the best method of payment from a private individual?

The work is basic data entry. Any idea of hourly costs?

I've used oDesk and ScriptLance and would recommend both of them, however you'd be better with oDesk for this type of task. you decide what's your budget (starting at $20) and people literally fight for the job

odesk uses its own software which will allow you to monitor people you've hired by either looking at their desktop screenshots over the time and/or watching them work on the webcam. also the funds are released when you review the work.

make sure you google odesk best practices before you start, as for a newbie it's quite easy to be scammed by a profficient provider who knows his way around the odesk rules, nothing like this ever happened to me, but I've heard terrible stories before I gave it a try

I use these guys: www.timesvr.com - however they are limited to 15 min tasks.

You can get freelance guys on elance.com (best one out there)

But if its a long term thing your looking for then checkout: www.getfriday.com - this is the company Tim Ferris talks about in his book "The 4 hour work week" which is a good read for delegation of work to VA (Full chap covers it)
