    Hi Guys,

I have an interview coming up for a job through a recruitment agency. The salary is 23-26k DOE. I was just wondering have any of ye had experience in going to an interview and negotiating a salary. Is this acceptable? I feel that 27-30k would be a more realistic salary for me if this company was to employ me. I would really like the job but i would like it at the right salary. Would i be foolish to bring this up at the interview? or should i wait to see if i am offered the position and then try to negotiate the salary?

    All replies greatly appreciated!!

Wait until you're offered the job tbh.

I would not bring it up in the interview at all and would wait until I had been offered the job. The other point is although you may feel "that 27-30k would be a more realistic salary for me if this company was to employ me", they may not feel the same way and it's their opinion of whats realistic that counts.

Chances are the budget for the role may be set in stone with no room for maneuver, but there is no harm in trying...I would discuss it with the recruitment consultant and see what they say in relation to the clients view on the salary.

I was told I should be bringing home X amount of money with my experience, got called by a company in person to apply for a job but didn't get it, one reason I was told (from friends who work there) is that I asked for too much and I should have gone in with lower salary rate, but then again why work for peanuts? IF you have no job then take what they give, if you have then you can decide
