    Hi all,

I recently got a first class honours in my masters. I have also been assisting in some labs for the past semester, but only because they scheduled a lecturer for a subject they know nothing about!
Do you think my chances are good of getting some more work hours for this coming September? I had a chat with the head of dept and she said that she won't know until July when the timetables are made out etc but she will keep me in mind. They are introducing a new course next semester which would mean more hours for lecturers etc and I think they can only do a max of 18 teaching hours per week? Any tips on increasing my chances of being asked back?

    Thanks...

It's in an Institute of Technology, but I was just thinking that the Croke Park agreement really ruins my chances of getting more hours next semester. This is due to lecturers having to do an extra 2 hours per week teaching. This would probably not leave any free classes for me to teach in.

well if you know yourself there wont be any free classes for you to teach, best thing to do is just keep doing a good job an approach the head of the department and politely ask at the end of the semester

I suppose I can't do more than that! Is this Croke Park agreement going ahead in September then?
