I am surprised Sky have it considering the bother they had in previous years of this competition.

    pure germans!

Just like the yanks, the only thing that makes it onto telly is when they are involved in it.

Now that Khymer is doing well in the golf, suddenly the public service broadcasters have decided that some of the 7.6 BILLION euro a year in tv licence fees should go to showing the majors, after ignoring the sport for a decade since Bernhard Langer dissapeared off the scene.
So there may be news on that front soon BUT sky DE are determined that there be NO golf of any signifance on german free to air telly.
Could be useful to keep an eye on developments there for stuff thats otherwise only on Sky UK in Ireland .

And seeing as im at it, the Tour de France wont be shown on German free to air this summer.
A combination of lack of german superstars along with the constant drugging scandals led to them pulling out.

It's on in 3d on Sky Italy according to the 3d Channel. Probably no english as normal with Sky Italy now.

just a heads up that this is on tomorrow night at 9:15 Euro Time, 8.15 Irish.

And in true german style, NO analysis at half time, they have the shaggin news instead.

BTW, ZDF have the champions league coverage in a couple of years time for germany so another free to air outlet for the competition. (Sat 1 though are bringing it to court as they reckon the licence money cant be spent in this way or something, so that may put a spanner in the works yet)

ZDF have acquired the champions league coverage rights for 3 years starting 2012, it's not another outlet for the competition, it's a different outlet, as far as the German viewing public is concerned it's simply on a different channel from 2012, as for the court case, that will come to nothing, pure sour grapes on sat 1's part.

your earlier post about the tour de france not being on ARD or ZDF this year, unusual as this is considering it's been on those channels for a number of years, it was on the cards for a long time, ARD and ZDF have threatened for a number of years to not show the following year's tour de france, each time after another doping scandal, but it will be free to air on Eurosport Germany anyway, which in Germany is freely available on cable (A+D), satellite (A+D) and also in most areas digital terrestrial too.
