HTPC, AVR, 3DTV Problems

    Hi

    My setup is as follows:
    - ASRock 3D Vision 156B HTPC (NVIDIA® GeForce GT425M), Windows 7 X64 Professional
    - Denon AVR 1911 AV Receiver
    - Panasonic P65VT20 3D TV

The ASRock is connected to one of the HDMI inputs of the AV receiver. The receiver is then connected to the 3DTV.

In that configuration, I cannot get the nVidia stereoscopic (i.e. 3D) stuff to work properly. It doesn't complain of lack of 3D support, but when the stereoscopic demos are supposed to start, the TV goes blank, into 480i mode (rather than the expected 1080p/24 3D or 1080p/60 3D).

If I connect the HTPC directly to the TV, I have no problem (but I'd like to use the AV receiver to avoid having to run an extra cable to the TV).

The AVR1911 is HDMI 1.4a compliant so it should handle the 3D flag just fine (in fact it works perfectly with 3D content from the 3D BluRay player and the PopCorn C-200). So I'm wondering whether it's a software problem rather a hardware problem.

I have noticed that when the HTPC is connected directly to the TV, Windows reports the monitor to be "Panasonic TV". When it's connected to the receiver, it reports it to be "DENON-AVAMP" (even if the receiver is off and just "passing through" the signal). So I wonder whether this is something to do with the nVidia card / windows acting differently depending to what it thinks it's connected to.

I've searched for people reporting similar problems, but everything I found is about people having HDMI1.3 receivers, and having to "fake" the support for 3D writing custom EDID (not sure what this is?).

Has anybody experienced similar problems? Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

Apologies mate but I cannot help you on this question, I was just wondering how much the ASROCK 3D vision cost you and where did you get it?

The core i3 model is around 600eur. I should probably gone for that cheaper model (reviews are all good) but it was a drunken impulse buy at 3am , so I went for the hard-to-find core i5 model (800eur). Got it from a german online retailer, www.mindfactory.de. They ship (DHL) to Ireland for around 30eur.

Bear in mind that it comes with no OS installed so if you want Windows on it that will set you back a few more euro.

Ouch, at €600 it might be out of my budget, cheers for the info though:D
