I am having difficulty connecting my phone to the bluetooth in my car. It's a 2008 Lancer. Any help or suggestions would be most appreciated!

Search for the car on your phone. Pass code is in handbook but should be either 0000 or 1234. That's if the car has it to begin with.

Thanks EPM. I'll have a try of that on lunch break and see how I get on.

Is it a factory fitted car kit? If not, tell us which kit it is - Nokia, Parrot etc.

It's an integrated system. When I press the bluetooth button it states 'searching for device'. I have googled the life out of it but no answers :( so guessing it's my own stupidity? My phone is a Nokia 5530.

When the car searches for devices make sure bluetooth is on and discoverable on your mobile phone.

You need to do the search from the phone and not the car.

Thanks for the replies. The search from the car doesn't come up with anything and I cannot work out how to search from the phone... Ooh it's so irritating!!

Settings - connectivity - bluetooth - my devices - new device.

It'll vary a bit phone to phone but that's the bones of it. If you can't do this op it'd be best to get someone else do it for you.

It's Nokia 5530. I have worked out now how to look for a connection, thanks HenryFord so I'll try to connect it up again this evening!

    From Nokia 5530 guide....

    "Pair devices
Select Menu > Settings and Connectivity > Bluetooth.
To pair with compatible devices and view your paired devices, open the Paired
    devices tab.
Before pairing, create your own passcode (1 to 16 digits), and agree with the owner
of the other device to use the same code. Devices that do not have a user interface
have a factory-set passcode. The passcode is used only once.
1 To pair with a device, select Options > New paired device. Devices that are
    within range are displayed.
    152 Connectivity
© 2010 Nokia. All rights reserved.
2 Select the device, and enter the passcode. The same passcode must be entered
on the other device, as well.
3 Some audio accessories connect automatically to your device after pairing.
Otherwise, to connect to an accessory, select Options > Connect to audio
    device.
Paired devices are indicated by in the device search."
