    Lads,

Would anyone be suspicious of a car that was advertised as a private sale also showing up on a fairly well know dealers web site ?
I am thinking he is going to try off load it without any sort of warranty.
A guy here was complaining recently about a trader advertising a car as private too, but he didn't have it on his own site - this guy does and it's 4k more at the dealers site.

Another strange thing is I deduced from the same email address the "private" seller tried to buy a car I recently had advertised from me for cash ?

i wouldn't lose any sleep. maybe he forgot to hit the 'trader' button when advertising the car.

i don't understand why people get hung up on this.

the car is advertised at on the dealers site for a higher premium with warranty, or i asume on donedeal for less with no warranty.

your choices are before you... the car itself will either be straight or it wont, a motorcheck would advise you further.

i also wouldn't be worried that he tried to buy your car, dealers have to buy cars to sell after all.

It is illegal for a Motor Trader to fail to disclose he/she is operating as a business.

I've been back an forth on the emails with him, he didn't forget to hit dealer button - the ad quite definitely gives the impression its a private sale.

I'm usually one for believing there is an obvious answer to these sort of things and I am far from suspicious normally but this is odd - anyway, I'll go meet him and see how he comes across then.

really ? anyway, I'm no grass :D I'm just wondering whats going on.
It could be a private car of a lad working at the dealers - I suppose its best to ask the lad himself when I meet him.

FWIW, my guess is that he's arranged with the dealer to sell the car on commission and is meanwhile trying to sell it himself too.

I'd bluntly ask the question, and if I didn't receive a plausible answer I'd walk away.
