Car A/C making whining noise at low rev / speed

    Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. This morning after starting the car, I turned on the a/c and a high pitched whining eminated from the car. I immediately switched the a/c off and no warning lights appeared. The car seemed to be in working order so I began my journey. In order to see whether the noice was constant, I switched the a/c on and off at different speeds and it disappeared once about about 35km or so and returned when I slowed down. The heating and cooling effect seem to be unaffected.

Am I correct to assume that there is a refrigerant leak or similar? I recently had the car serviced (6 weeks ago) and the a/c system sanitised. This is the first indication of a problem.

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated before I go near a garage.
