I've been staggered by the price of these. It's just a key for opening the doors and the boot and not for starting the engine. One came with my old almera and it was great for me as i surf and its alot better than leaving the keys under the wheel as you can wear the key under your wetsuit and keep your car locked. I've recently changed my car to a ford mondeo and the cheapest i could get one cut for was €100 euro, ford dealer wanted €120!!.

Seems really excessive, does anyone know where i could get one done cheaper than this.

Is it the old round shape key or the new square type?

No way shud it be that price. Try a locksmith and make it clear what you want.

It's the older round type key. I tried autokey on the naas road and the quoted 90 euros, still too much

Not a hope would I pay that, are you any where near Maynooth?
Jimmy's shoe repair and key cutting, Tesco SC. He's the man, all you want is the key. You won't need the chip for the immobiliser.
    Shouldn't be anymore then €20

I'm not too far away and for the 20 quid it would be worth the trip!

If all you want it for is to open the door and specifically for it not to start the engine, grab one of these: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ford-mondeo-transponder-smart-key-casing-16394 and bring it to a key cutter. I'm not sure if the one in the link is the right one but there's a few there anyway :)
