    Hi,

Im looking to get a 08 diesel, currently a honda civic 2.2. But my dad has put the frightners up me with a list of items that can go bang between 3 and 6 years old :

    Replacement Diesel Particulate filter £500 - £1000
    Replacement Dual Mass Flywheel £1000 - £1,500
    Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve-£500 - £1,000
    Replacement Turbo £1,000 - £2,000

Is he accurate saying this ? Does anyone know if civics are prone to the above ? are they expenive to run ? do all diesels have these potential costs within this time frame ?

    Thanks
    Smoggy.

    Replacement Diesel Particulate filter £500 - £1000 - UK/IRL model doesn't have a DPF

    Replacement Dual Mass Flywheel £1000 - £1,500 - Ford's ones are rubbish, Honda's aren't.

Have a look on civinfo.com for model specific info on the Civic.

DMF also goes in Hondas, as does the EGR valve, and on earlier models the turbo also goes.

If you want peace of mind just buy a petrol. They're super simple by comparison.
