Best coffee cup for in the car??

This may seem like an unusual request.

I have tried a few cheap thermos type mugs for coffee in the car, but I find that the plastic inner lining and cap gives a slight taste of plastic, and diminishes the flavour of the coffee. I usually prefer to use paper cups to keep the taste as I like it.

I've now moved to an office that requires all drinks to be in sealed containers to prevent spillages on to equipment, and paper cups aren't acceptable.

Does anybody have any recommendations for a thermos type cup, with cap, that doesn't affect the taste of the coffee??

    Thanks

I've a Starbucks mug which is a hard clear plastic, but they do not taint the taste of the coffee in the slightest. Looks like this:

They sell them in all Starbucks.

The small keep cup really is the solution for crap car cup holders - I spent years wasting money on other cups until I stumbled onto the keepcup around 16mths ago.

I'm still on the Starbucks stainless steel mugs, first lasted almost 10 years and I replaced it last year, well worth the twenty odd euro they cost.

Am tempted to try one of these

Only thing about the double walled cups is they cant go in dishwasher usually. (I Know I am so lazy). I have been through so many and have issues with fit too. But you can now also buy cup holders that hang from the vent which is handy too.

I agree on the full plastic or metal outer/plastic inner cups, that's why
you get the horrid taste with corroding plastic or dishwater trapped between
the layers and leaking back into your brew, nice!
But the all-stainless starbucks are fine for bunging into the dishwasher,
you get what you pay for.

OP not sure where you are based but the new cafe (Cafe Kao) in Limericks Milk Market sells the keepcup AFAIK. They also serve Badger and Dodo coffee which is very nice!

Hi Mcgabhs - that's super news. Been looking for one for a while and I see incomnia have started doing them but there are none in Limerick :(

I have been to the Milk market a few times lately and have not found Cafe Kao! What days are they usually there?

It's a permanent coffee shop in the corner unit of the milk Market next door to the photo gallery place. To be honest I'd heard about it but it took me two laps of the Market to find it! It's kinda hidden by one of the steel legs of the big top if you know what I mean! I've only been there on a Saturday but I'd imagine they are open every day.

I don't generally drink coffee in the car, but my wife uses one of these for the car. It as around €16 in Avoca Rathcoole.

It seems like a lot, but the fact that fits the (crap) cup-holders in both our cars, is double walled and imparts no taste whatsoever to the drink is worth it.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

I went for this (as recommended by boardsies) in the end.

    http://www.firebox.ie/product/2120/I-Am-Not-A-Paper-Cup

It arrived in just two days, it's perfect for what I want and coffee tastes as it should.

Just so long as it don't drop it!

Debenams had those "dont throw me away cups" for €12 in Galway yesterday. I may think of getting one. They had 3 designs, you can get them online to.

Looks like the same one as the firebox one, good bit cheaper too if you buy instore...

    It's €12 delivered from debenhams.ie, sweet :D

Got the debenhams one delivered yesterday....not the same as the firebox one...but feck all difference....main difference is the theres a hole in the bottom of it (Just on the outside wall!!), plugged with a removable rubber grommet. Not sure why they did that, or how it'll work in the dishwasher. Other than that, its the same, double-walled white ceramic cup....€12 delivered...can't argue with that...

Just noticed, its on sale for €9.60...assume shipping is still free....
