Hi everybody does anyone here know whether the CPA qualification is taken as a Honours Degree or a Masters Degree when applying for further education? I'm currently waiting on a decision on a PGDE application at the moment. I actually put it down as a 2nd Primary Degree but I am hoping it might be taken as a Masters Degree to push up my points. I'm hoping this because I know that ACCA & ICAI are Masters Degrees. Thanks

AFAIK, it has not as yet been graded, and until it is CPA are doing the likes of you a disservice. I'm sure it would get a Masters designation, but in fairness it will take the likes of you to get onto the CPA to get it sorted, imo.

I was always under the assumption that all professional accoutnacy qualifications are are equivalent to level 9 on the National Framework for Qualifications. Level 9 is Masters Degree or Post Graduate Diploma.

Nope - ACCA and CAI applied to the NQAI and were judged to be level 9. CPA didn't apply and I assume we'd have heard about it by now if they had.

I suppose we had better contact them to see what they are doing about this.

I will pretty much find out for sure tomorrow if I get an offer or not

Rang the institute about this and they said they are in teh process of applying but that it takes a long time. They also said that if anyone is applying for a post grad or masters that they can seek a letter from the institute if the qualification is not being recognised as equivalent to level 9.

Spoke to Paul Heaney about it.
