You may need a certain codec installed to view the HD content. I haven't had any problems streaming HD channels to my PC except bandwidth issues. I now have gigabit throughout my house but I used to just have 802.11G and it couldn't handle the HD (I also tried those crappy Ethernet over Power adapters but couldn't get near the advertised transfer rate)

Cheers m8... my bandwidth must be the issue.... weird thing is that BBC HD doesnt have any issues.. I know that its not DVB S2 but surely that channel would need decent bandwidth to be shifted from my DM to my PC ....

    Weird eh

BBC HD seems to use less bandwidth than most others, maybe the HD quality isn't as good (which it isn't, it seems to have degraded in quality since the first introduction of BBC HD) and hence lower actual bandwidth, I dunno exactly tbh, only way I could explain it.

Anyway, have you tried DreamStream instead of VLC ?

Give it a go, it's free and pretty decent...

There's also a weird/finicky workaround whereby you edit the HD channels with DreamBoxEdit, assigning them as Radio channels, add them to radio bouquets, set radio mode as alternative on Dreambox (so you can still view the channels direct on the dreambox) and then stream them to your PC from there. It supposedly reduces the ram usage by 20% and allows the HD channels to stream without any issues on DM800/8000's

Workaround works for me anyway on DM800.

What Dreambox do you have btw ?

The other thing you could try, again, really works well for me, is the following...

Within Preferences of your VLC, change the FFmpeg codec option of "skip the loop filter for H.264 encoding" to "ALL" and give that a go. I'll post a screenshot below of where exactly this setting is in VLC, as it can be an arse to find. Highlighted sections with red circles :)

If it's for a card sharing service don't go anywhere near it. Not only is it illegal anyway you will probably be giving money to organised crime.
