The train has been stopped outside of malahide for over 40 mins now. What is a signaling failure and how long do your reckon it will take to fix?

Seems a power failure knocked out the whole signaling system between Howth Junction and Drogheda, didn't think a single power failure could knock it out but, hey there you go.

Fair play to Bus Eireann for accepting rail tickets and sorting out replacement busses so quickly by the way.

Bus Eireann were not accepting rail tickets from what I saw on the 8pm 100X. The driver even rang busaras but was told not to accept train tickets even though the Irish fail website was saying tickets would be accepted on bus Eireann busses. I was on the 6.40 train to Drogheda which didn't leave Connolly and there was no announcements. On leaving at 7.30 to get the bus an Irish rail staff member was telling us to keep our ticket as they would be accepted o the bus but they were not.

As the train was delayed by moren'n an hour and a signalling fault is completely within IE's responsibility.

Well I was also on that train, gave it up after a wasted hour sat going nowhere. Strolled over to Busaras and was fairly impressed by what I saw. Admittedly there was a pretty large crowd gathered on Store Street, there were 3 Bus Eireann staff wearing hi-vis vests directing people where to go. Within ten minutes, three busses (2 to Drogheda and 1 to Balbriggan) arrived and people were allowed on with rail tickets (admittedly on the later Drogheda bus the Bus Eireann staff clearly stated that they were going to prioritise people who already had Bus Eireann tickets, perhaps thats what happened to yourself).

Anyway I thought they handled it well.

This was at 8pm by the way.

I was on the 17.55 from Pearse and it stopped at Malahide and I thought the lack of communication was appalling. Empty DART sat beside us for ages and then without warning went back into the City. Three announcements within 30 minutes from the driver saying Dublin Bus would accept rail tickets - to where? back into the City? Steady flow of fed up passengers left the station and about 15 stayed in my carriage and without warning the engines started up at 7.45 and promptly left northwards at 7.50.No issues with the train driver but lack of communications from the Malahide staff......if they were still there (did see one uniformed staff when we first arrived but he clearly never ventured over to the northbound platform)Normally I would be full of praise with IR over the handling of the Malahide Bridge saga and the nearly faultless schedule with the recent snow and ice, but last night's episode sucked

That was at busaras but there was nobody at custom house quay to sort out over 100 people waiting on the 100X. All rail passengers on that and another bus that pulled up behind it had to pay to their destination. And I seriously doubt Irish rail will honour any refunds on their bus tickets.

I don't know what trains you were getting during the cold snap but every one I got was late during the week of the 19-24th

Earlier in the cold snap I was over an hour delayed getting home from Pearse.

And in the last fortnight I was delivered to Harmonstown where we were told an overhead power line fault had stopped a dart in Killester and we could get the bus.

I was stopped in Malahide where there was bad pa in the train and none on the northern end of the western platform.
