Opinions on laying claim to family home

A hypothetical question from Australia. My parents died 15 years ago in Wicklow and neither had a will. One brother was living at home at the time and continues to live there still.

    1) If myself and my brothers were to lay a claim to the home at this late stage, what would our options be?

    2) If the brother were to buy us out, in your opinion would the current value or the or the value at time of parents death factor in? Note, one brother has done odd maintainence jobs on the house at his own expense, in case thats a factor.

    3) If said brother at home might not be willing to do a buy-out, what might our position be then, do we have any potential options?

    Thanks.

Hypothetically you should see a solicitor.

Hypothetically you should also not create another one of these threads... we're not stupid.
