Really sorry guys if this is the wrong forum for this kind of thing, couldn't find one anywhere else.
If a car gets stopped for having too many passengers, and everyones name gets taken...does everyone get put on the pulse system or just the violator i.e. driver?

i would imagine it depends on the individual garda and the full circumstances.

Well he let the driver off completely, no fine or nothing and the garda seemed sound enough but I'm just wondering if it's like protocol or anything?

if the vehicle is overloaded your insurance is null and void

if they have a licence they can get done for not wearing seat belts.

Nothing to do with a passenger having a license or not. What makes you think it would? Any passenger over 16 takes the blame themselves. Driver gets the fine for anyone under 16

Does it really matter if your name goes on the pulse system?

Its a criminal record obtained from a notice or court you need to watch for.

Check your own policy for a standard car. 4 adult passengers is all thats allowed.

Also do a search, crash maybe 4 or 5 years ago in Howth, passengers had to sue the driver as insuranmce was null and void due to overloading of the vehicle. I believe the claims failed as they should have known and took the risk themselves (idiots even had someone in the boot)

Ye true but for anybody who may possibly want a career with the Gardai (or perhaps any emergency service in the future) building a history of sillyness / questionable behaviour or associations is inadvisable.....

Sure people's names could be on Pulse for all sorts of reasons and I can think of a good few that would have nothing to do with criminal behaviour whatsoever.....

Max capacity is determined by number of seatbelts.

same thing, standard car has 4 passenger seatbelts. my policy is based on the set vehicle I named therefore the amount of people I am insured to carry. Should you drive a minivan then the insurance would reflect that fact of course.

Leaving out Smart cars the standard car has five sets of belts.
