Recommendations for an introductory book

I've always wanted to get into astronomy in some way, but never quite got around to it. I don't have a telescope or anything, but i'd just like to read some sort of astronomy-related book in order to get a bit of a handle on the field in general, what kind of stuff i'd be doing, etc if i were to spend some money on one.…

I've always wanted to get into astronomy in some way, but never quite got around to it. Anyone got anything in particular you'd recommend? This is possibly a very vague question, in the stickies I didn't see anything about books at all, so maybe they're not even used that much. Any guidance ye can give without spending much cash would be nice, thanks!
