Prerequisite or pre-requisite?

I’m doing some documentation in work for a set of setup procedures, and as part of it I list a series of pre-requisites that are needed prior to do anything. Upon reviewing some similar documents, I found that my colleagues tend to use “prerequisites” in ones they’ve prepared. Is it a case of ee-ther/eye-ther, toh-may-to / toh-mah-to (i.e. both are correct variants of words representing the same concept, or have I been sticking in a hyphen where none was needed for years?

“Teh intarweb” tends to favour prerequisite but there are references to pre-requisite too.

    What do you think?

I wouldn't use a hyphen. I'd tend to only use a hyphen with a prefix to denote a syllable break where the absence of one might change the pronunciation changing, such as 're-enable' or possibly 'pre-emptive'.

Concise Oxford gives it without a hyphen, in case you're interested.

Thanks folks. I think a quick search/replace is warranted, in both my document and my brain :)
