id say, you would need get used ignition lock with key (would say cheaper), or hotwiring gentle way just for drive around. I am not sure, youll get carina key code on such old cars.

Im trying to find code so I can get a replacement key, there 's no chip needed for key. I taught there was a key code for every key???

Was it originally imported from the UK or Japan? I don't think JDM cars had immobilisers fitted back in 1993.

If it doesn't have an immobiliser then I would imagine that all you need is a replacement ignition lock barrel plus door and boot locks. Maybe you should have a good lock smith take a look at it.

Ill bet, there is possible get key code through someware (try different toyota forums in uk, australia).
Even when i was trying get for fiat punto keycode ( key broke), it was 50 euro just for code, + make that key from code wouldnt be cheap... so , cheper, get locks and key.

I lost the only key to my 94 imported Civic years ago, went to a locksmith he told me to remove the lock from the boot lid and bring it in to him as there is a code on it for the key. He cut two keys there on the spot for about €7. Found the key within five minutes of returning home though

this is it really, even a lot of JDM toyotas around 10 years later still didn't have immobilisers as standard. a new/ second hand lock set would be the handiest thing here.

that said, i reckon toyota are fobbing you off a bit, if they can pick parts for imported cars surely they can source a key code.
