As we approach the end of the month I thought it would be interesting to point out that March is going to end up being colder than February in many locations.

A quick look at the Climate Data and Reports Page from the Met E site shows that current average temps for the month are up to 0.5 degrees colder than those recorded for February in many locations.

Is this a common statistical anomaly? Has it happened in many years before?

The Dublin Airport average temp is currently 1.6 degrees colder than that for February

It'll be first occurrance in my 12 years of records.

    Feb mean 7.1C
March mean will be 6.6 or 6.7C

Today and tomorrow has really pushed the mean up a lot.

    It'll be 3rd coldest March in my records behind 2010 5.8C and 2001 6.0C

This March has been sunniest in my 8 year record.
