This has been driving me mad for years:(. There was this kids programme I used to watch, I'd say it was mid to early 80s. All I can remember is these kids went down to the garden in the night and all the statues had got down off their plinths and were chatting away having a right get together! I can't exactly remember if this was a one off occurence in the series, but seem to think it was what the programme was based on. It was a posh stately kind of garden and posh looking statues. I have searched the internet for 80s shows, and can't find the name of it. Thought it was something along the lines of The Magic Garden, but no joy. I seem to remember it being an English programme.
There was also another programme in the 80s, all I can remember is it was Australian, and there was a big talking rock in it??
I don't think I'm imagining either of these:o. Any ideas:)??

Not entirely sure was it The Secret Garden:o. Wasn't that about the little girl who goes to stay with an aunt or something, and discovers this walled garden and a sick child hidden upstairs in a bedroom?

Not sure. That was the name that spring out when I read the OP. Was Jenny Agutter in it? Maybe that's why it's in my mind. :pac:

Had you got UTV/BBC at that time? Might help zone it down

There was a show called "The Enchanted Garden" I think and it's sounds like what you're describing.

It was on one of the UK channels.

Yeah, The Secret Garden is the one about the sick child. I don't think Jenny Agutter was in any version, stovelid. She was in The Railway Children all right though, which is of a similar ilk.

Only link I could find on The Enchanted Garden but yep, that seems like the one all right.

The one with the whispering rock (good god that scared me senseless - I was about five) "Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiimonnnnnnnnnn" was called The Nargun & The Stars. I actually asked for the name of that show here a few years ago too. :)

A similar kind of show from around then The Witches and The Grinnygog scard the crap out of me too.

OMG!! Thank you all so much:D!! Yes I'm sure it must be the Enchanted Garden, that name is very familiar. You would not believe the years I've been trying to remember that! Pity there doesn't seem to be any clips of it on YouTube. Dudess, thanks for The Nargun and the Stars, also, I would never have remembered that. Would you believe that The Witches and the Grinnygog, was another one I always wanted the name of. All I could ever remember was the gargolyey statue falling off the truck, in the first episode. Thought no one would know what I was on about:o. Was just watching clips on YouTube. Memories:)!

Yeah, I'd never have remembered that Nargun one's name either, only for someone telling me right here on Boards.

Nobody did spooky like British children's TV in the 70s/80s. :)
