Decent bit of dry weather to start the season. Have many places gotten rid of placing / dropping in the rough yet?

Played Palmerstown House yesterday. Winter rules still apply there.

Playing as it lies in many places, but not for long!!!

Lots of rain tonight and over the next few days. Seeing as courses are barely dry enough for qualifying comps, I would imagine it'll be winter rules again by the weekend.....

We still had placing last weekend in the Curragh, but I'm not sure for how much longer....

Its the only disadvantage to summer golf!!!:D

We were 'play as it lies' on Sunday for the medal but won't make a decision for next weekend until friday evening. A little bit bare in places but it's much better to play 'proper' golf, particularly when GOY points & medal on offer...

Happy to see the rain tbh. Combined with the expected increase in temps early next week (high teens) it should help to trigger the badly needed growth that's required after a harsh enough winter (e.g. snow in December).

The only downside of all this upcoming growth is that us pollen-haters will suffer badly over the next few months. Need to hit the chemist for medication soon.

Clubs can be too quick to get rid of placing. Played a course today that was dry as a bone, but there's feck all growth so 4 out of 5 lies were terrible.

Also, courses which butcher their greens with pole forks the size of smartie tubes should hold off also. I'd be happy enough if my own club kept placing in force until the end of April.
