Suggestions for a new laptop

    Hi all,

I need to get a windows laptop as I'm planning on getting into programming. Can anyone make any suggestions based on the info below?

    Budget: Maximum of approx €1,000

    Intended use: Programming, internet etc

Mobility: Not too worried about mobility. I think the bigger the screen the better.

    Warranty: Not too important

What Operating System do you use? I use Windows XP in work all day. But I use an Imac at home. I'd love to get a Macbook Pro but because I'm going to be using it for programming, I'm assuming a Windows PC is the way to go.

We've used Dell and HP in the office over the last 10 years. Always had trouble with the Dell's but the HP's have been solid enough (bar a few).

I'm guessing the I5 or I7 chips are the way to go.

    Anyone any specific suggestions?

    Thanks for any help.
