Need Advice, Dangerous Driving

    i was stopped on the road last for doing 80kph in a 50kph the garda said there would be a summons in the door in a next few months i asked do i not just get a speeding ticket he said no i will be in court for dangerous driving, this is my first ever affence and no one got hurt and the roads were empty, i would like to know does anyone know what will happen when this goes to court, also will i need a solicitor or do i just plead guilty

    i wasnt looking for legal advice i was looking for advice off people who were in similar positions like if they got solicitor and didnt need one or just pleadded guilty an just got off with a fine

    It doesn't matter that the roads were empty nor that no one was hurt.

    The penalty can be a fine and/or 6 months in prison for dangerous driving.

    Probably best for you if you consult a solicitor. Some judges take this very seriously, especially for doing 30kph above the limit in a built up area.

    The summons will come any time between now and 6 months from the date of the offence.
