    Hi,
I am looking at buying a new car next in the autumn and currently am driving a Nissan Quashqai which I like a lot. I am thing of getting another 1.5 diesel Quashqai or else a Hyundai ix35 1.7d. Anyone have any experience off Hyundai ix35 or Hyundai's in general.

i doubt many will have experience with the iX35 seeing as its brand new to the market.

hyundais quality keeps going up and up though, they are countless times better than they were 5-10 years ago and they are fast becoming a major player over here, combine that with the 5 year warranty on offer and they are hard to beat value for money wise as new cars go.

    Cheers Andy,
Would they be regarded as being as good as the Nissan regarding resale value, assuming no major defects appear in the coming years.

    i'd very much think so.

hyundai like i said appear to be on the up lately and are a pretty underestimated used purchase but people are fast becoming wise to their merrits, constantly going one bigger and one better than before whereas nissan, now owned by renault are becoming a bit washed out and certainly not what they used to be.

i reckon the hyundai is a likely contender to last a long time, and even if it doesn't, the mega warranty will cover your back. want to sell if privately in 4 years time? tell the prospective buyer its still in manufacturers warranty, sold .

Have a look at the new Kia Sportage also. It is the sister car to the Hyundai iX35 and has a 7 year warranty. There is a seperate thread about it on this forum.

iX35 and Sportage are new models whereas the Qashqui is now nearly 5 years old so a new model is probably in the pipe line over the next 12 months.

Hyundai if you do huge mileage - unlimited mileage 5 year warranty
Kia has a longer warranty but mileage limitation

    Kia looks better Imo

Quashqai is only 2WD, the other two have 4WD options. That'd be enough for me!

couple of months back I was also in same dilemma, Quasqai(1.5D) v/s ix35(1.7D), I ended with buying ix35 (2wd)

I did test drive of both and found ix35 much better and close to jeep/SUV/Xover comfort, Q was much smaller in height and length so I didn't get any feel of a family car

also felt that Q's pickup was much lower than ix35, and there was more kit with ix35 even in basic version, 17"Alloys(even spare was alloy)

I'm not sure about the fuel economy of Q, but on ix35 i'm getting 5L/100 in commuting daily between Wicklow-Dublin, which is OK for its size

Yes, as 'bazz26' said that it almost 5 years when Q was launched so its new model will be in pipeline

I've driven them all and I think I'd go for the Kia Sportage given that it looks super and the equipment levels are good, as is the 7-year warranty. The sheer volumes of Qashqais around mean that the residuals in a few years might start to weaken. ix35 is nice, but as far as I know there is a difficulty with supply of them in right hand drive, although it isn't too clever on the Kia either.
