    Hi
I've been waiting 3 months for Jobseekers benefit to come through, I've been told I am claiming students credits and have to wait for them to come through from Dublin. Then I can receive payment.

Anyone have any experience with student credits when claiming Jobseekers? How much € per week I'll receive etc., and i'm 23.

    Thanks guys :)

Your rate of Jobseekers Benefit depends on your earnings in the General Contribution Year (GCY), it is only the Allowance that has a different rate for those under 25.

For claims made in 2011 the GCY this will be 2009. If your earnings in 2009 were 300 Euro, or more you will receive payment of 188/week.

    Thanks for that,
I was a full time student during all of 2009 and only worked full time for the summer, I assume this is where the student credits kick in?

The credits help you qualify for Jobseeker's Benefit. You need 39 contributions either paid or credit (of which 13 need to be paid) in 2009 to qualify.
The rate of payment depends on your average weekly earnings in 2009 - if on average you earned 300 or more, you will qualify for 188 per week.

I thought the allowance was a different rate for those under 21 only, when did this start to apply to those under 25 and what is the current rate?

The JA and SWA rate for people aged 18-21 is €100 per week.
Those aged 22,23 and 24 years is €144 per week with effect from Jan 2011

JSB is paid at €188 if you earned €300 on average in the relevant GSY for claims made in 2011 the GSY is 2009. The age reduction only applies to JSA and if someone <25 has a JSB claim and their benefit exhausts once they go directly to JSA the age reduction does not apply.
