10.6.7 update: can't connect to SMB share

    Hi,
I installed the 10.6.7 update last night and since then I can't connect to my network drive. It used to be a simple smb://FND/Mixu to mount it but now it gives me a "Connection Failed....Check the server name or IP address, and then try again." message.
I've tried using the IP address but get the same thing. I can still connect to it on an old machine using Panther.
I can see the FND drive on Finder and I can see the volumes on it but when I double click them I get a dialog that says "The operation can't be completed because the original item for "Mixu" can't be found.

I've been googling it all last night and since work this evening and have tried most of the suggestions I've come across without any luck. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it, otherwise I think I'm looking at reinstalling Snow Leopard and going up to 10.6.6.

    Thanks,
    Showry

Hi Showry, Snap exact same problem here and the same as you can't find any info on how to fix it. Have you had any luck since?

What kind of network are we talking about here, fixed or wireless? Can you ping FND/Mixu ( is Mixu a volume on FND?) or its IP address?

I connect to my Mac from a WDTV via SMB and haven't experienced any problems since upgrading to 10.6.7. Have you checked the settings in System Preference > Sharing> File Sharing? You usually need to tick the SMB box and user account in options. Although this probably doesn't apply since you are trying to connect to a different machine.

Have tried accessing using IP, even chanced the IP of the drive and tried accessing the new IP, no joy :(

    Hi all,
it's a wireless network. I've tried connecting to the IP address, no joy. I can't ping int (yes Mixu is a volume on FND) and the SMB sharing is on.

I got this on another thread, it didn't work for me but might for you BuzzG

    cd /System/Library/Extensions/smbfs.kext/Contents/Resources
    sudo chmod 0755 load_smbfs

Try cifs://FND/Mixu instead? Works connecting to Windows shared in my office.
